The first Laceface release for 2017 has five new original tracks and a bonus audio novelty. Another hodgepodge of sound and style, Laceface has drawn heavily from nature and the past on this release. Lampyridae Glow fuses jazz and electronic sounds in a musical tribute to nature’s flying flashing LED. The Dark Cloud lets Laceface be very dramatic in a Tarantino kind of way. She sometimes likes to imagine she’s The Bride with her bow as her weapon. Laceface’s journey on Thunderbolts Way takes you around all sorts of windy hills so you’d better buckle up for the ride, or at the very least hold on. The second in the Dark Cloud Triptych, The Darker Cloud has a climactic melodic build to the ominous dark clouds rolling in until the final track, The Darkest Cloud is the breaking of the storm with a calming middle pizzicato’d middle section, as the rain gently drops.
