Hodgepodge IV
19 May 2017 – Last month Laceface released her fourth Hodgepodge via Bandcamp with five new tracks and a hidden bonus! It might be her favourite so far as she’s covered her beloved Buckethead. All this great affection from afar for a very tall guitarist in the USA whom she’ll never meet seems slightly stalkerish, but what’s a Lace Faced Cellist to do?
Here’s the blurb about Hodgepodge IV.
Another Laceface release, another hodgepodge of sounds. Inside Hodgepodge IV you’ll find five new original songs (including one bonus track) and Laceface’s first ever cover with Bolt On Neck, a homage to the Buckethead and That 1 Guy collaboration, Frankenstein Brothers.
Laceface has gone heavier and scarier than ever on this one with “Enamelinium” and “Golden Highway”. “Stitch” is a heartfelt gentle song of yearning and a quieter moment on this recording.

And… the admiration from afar continues in that it was Buckethead’s birthday on 13 May. So, Laceface felt compelled to write and record a little birthday medley present just for him. She also offered it to all other Buckethead fans as a means to celebrate Buckethead’s birthday. Laceface had so much fun putting it together and she found it the best way she knew how to wish Buckethead a happy birthday. Of course, no one wants to listen to Laceface on Buckethead’s birthday! Oh well. It’s there to download at a later stage if the inkling takes hold.
This Birthday Medley was written especially for Buckethead to celebrate his birthday. Buckethead has shown Laceface that there is a place in the world for a hideously disfigured and shy cello playing giantess, and for that and his incredible music, she is eternally grateful to him. Though he may never hear it, it’s been fun to celebrate his special day in her own way.
Face melting trills and whammy goodness are found within. The gentle second half is how Buckethead makes Laceface feel inside – all warm and gooey. Singalong with the Clucky Old Boilers Sisters and other strange barnyard characters as they sing a Happy Birthday song to Buckethead for a slightly disturbing and hilarious end to HBBH.
