New Release – Amnion

Ahhhh! All sorts of hitches have been playing havoc with my audio over the past couple of weeks. Without a reliable direct audio input, I decided to start work on a semi acoustic recording using my old French cello instead. That wasn’t without its own issues either, battling bangs and honks and crashes, not to mention bending glass hurricane winds, from outside. My Frankenstein like arm waving and foot stomping directed at those noisy folk out there fell on deaf ears (guffaw…) so I had to come up with a solution of my own. It only took a couple of days to realise it was as simple as putting my cello case behind my mic. Not that I haven’t done that before. I just couldn’t remember. Really, at my age, it’s lucky I remember anything. Now the only interference you can hear is the sound of my cello creaking…or is it my knee? Maybe both.

The result is Amnion. It’s cello lusciousness and space. While I realise Amnion will also fall mostly on deaf ears, my drive to create continues. However, if you do listen carefully, there are a few secret spots contained within where you can actually feel what my heart is thinking.

Amnion is a 22 minute and 8 seconds one track album of melodic, atmospheric and emotion charged cello from Laceface. The amnion is a protective layer surrounding most developing new life. Although she’s grown, her cello and face of lace is like her life’s amnion, a protector against all that ails her in the world. Laceface hopes you’ll be able to immerse and lose yourself within the comforting sounds of Amnion.

Lots of love, Laceface.

PS. Amnion might have also been inspired slightly by my birthday last week.
